Elmon Lee Pipkin, SrNovember 30, 1929 ~ July 16, 2017 (age 87)
Mr. Elmon Lee Pipkin, Sr. was born in Harnett County on November 30, 1929 to the late John Elmon Pipkin, Sr. and Maebell McNeil Pipkin. He attend McClean Chapel School and Shawtown High School. On March 30, 1951 Elmon Pipkin, Sr. was drafted into the United States Army. During his time served in the US Army, he fought in the Korean War. He was honored with the combat infantry badge Par United Nation Service metal, the Korean Service Metal, and W2 Bronze Service Stars. Cok. 30th Infantry regiment.
After his Military Career, he farmed and worked at the cotton gin and worked with the Sandhill Concrete finishers for many years He was a faithful Usher and Steward. He is proceeded in death by one daughter, Amanda Hope Pipkin.
He leaves to cherish his memories of 63 years, his wife, Mrs. Gladys M. Pipkin. He is survived by five daughters: Joyce Mikell (Kevin) and Martha Pipkin of Fayetteville, NC, Sharon D. Spearman (Willie) of Shreveport, LA., Andrea Williams (Elisha) of Lillington, NC, Gladys M. Elliott (Terry) of Fayetteville, NC, one son, Elmon Pipkin, Jr. (Rose) of Lillington, NC, one godchild Esther McLean Hurley of Spring Lake, NC, one sister; Mary McLean of Bunnlevel NC, one brother-in-law; Charlie McDougald(Gracie) of Bunnlevel NC, one sister-in-law; Hilda McDougald of Erwin NC, 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends, special granddaughter who assisted with his care, Mrs. Michelle Ingram (Adrian), of Willow Spring, NC .
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Walker Memorial Chapel, 163 Irene Roberts Rd., Lillington NC.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 2:00 pm, Andrews Chapel AME Church, 2009 McLean Chapel Church Rd., Bunnlevel NC 28339.
Interment will take place immediately after the service at McLean’s Cemetery, Bunnlevel NC.
