James Artis McLean

Mr. James Artis McLean, 81, of Lillington, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Green Leaf Care Center, Lillington, NC.

James Artis, son of the late Fred Simuel and Annie Lee McLean, was born November 16, 1941, in Harnett County and departed this life Sunday, February 12, 2023, in Lillington, NC.  

James Artis was a wonderful son, brother, and uncle. Although he never had children of his own, he was very involved with the upbringing of his nieces and nephews. He was one of the strong links in our village that help keep the family grounded. Anyone who knew James Artis, knew how kind hearted and caring of a man he was. After retiring from farming, he moved into a retirement facility for ten years until his health started to fail. He lived the last years of his life at Green Leaf Care Facility.  

He was preceded in death by brothers Fred McLean, Sr., Tom McLean, Jesse Lee McLean, Waddell McLean, David McLean, and Robert McLean; sisters Margaret King, Esther McLean, and Estelle Campbell.  

Those left to cherish his memories are: two sisters, Minnie Mitchell of Bunnlevel, NC and Clara McNeill of Fayetteville, NC; three brothers, Charles McLean of Lillington, NC,  Conrad McLean of Vass, NC and Elroy McLean of Fayetteville, NC.  

James Artis has a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loves him dearly. There is one special niece, Nancy Clark, who was guardian and protector.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. James Artis McLean will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, Viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., McLean Chapel Church, 2676 McLean Chapel Church Rd, Bunnlevel, NC, 

Service will follow the Viewing beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Interment will take place immediately after the Service at Resthaven Cemetery, Dunn, NC.
